Week 47 - “Heart: the emotional experience”

"Heroes didn't leap tall buildings or stop bullets with an outstretched hand; they didn't wear boots and capes. They bled, and they bruised, and their superpowers were as simple as listening, or loving. Heroes were ordinary people who knew that even if their own lives were impossibly knotted, they could untangle someone else's. And maybe that one act could lead someone to rescue you right back."

-- Jodi Picoult

"Feed the Love" class to support Feed the Frontlines NYC -

a grassroots organization that provides free, delicious meals to New Yorkers while supporting local restaurants and their employees. Like Pilates People, Feed the Frontlines was founded in March 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As New York City's hospitals were overwhelmed and restaurants began to shutter and lay off their employees, the Di Pietro family launched Feed the Frontlines to provide free meals to medical professionals battling the virus while also enabling restaurants to rehire their staff and keep their lights on. Since then, Frontlines has expanded its efforts to support the growing number of New Yorkers struggling to put food on the table and has provided over 155,000 meals across more than 100 locations across the city while helping dozens of local restaurants stay open and keep their staff employed.

Fueled by independent donations, their work feeds New Yorkers in need, helps small businesses stay afloat and keep staff employed, strengthens the restaurant supply chain, and stimulates the local economy during these difficult times. Feed the Frontlines envisions a future where local restaurants play an essential role in addressing food insecurity in their communities.

100% of the profits from this Valentine's Day class will be donated to this family run organization and we could not be more proud to support them! Please check them out, join if you can and if you'd like to donate more than a single class or you'd like to donate but can't attend, please just write in and let us know! We'll help you sort that out!

On our journey through the many aspects of our hearts, we have arrived at the emotional experience.
We want to treat this week as a way to feel good and to fill our hearts to the brim.

Because what's better than a full heart?
Maybe a full glass of wine...
but only maybe...maybe.

Anywho...Jenni and I got to a place where we looked at each other and said, "Is this self-care again?" And the answer is...yes...AND it's self-care through the care of others.

What?

Think about it - when you're able to support and take care of another, don't you generally feel good about it? In a the Grinch's heart is growing three sizes kind of way?

Ya, right?

So the question is, how do we do that?

Just like everything else we do here - work with what you have, where you are, how you are and get creative.

That's exactly what Feed the Frontlines NYC did to get started. And honestly, some of you may remember that's exactly what we did too.

And it's exactly what you're already doing every single week for us.

We want to take this moment to thank you.
Thank you for reading these words,
for showing up to class,
for hitting play on the video,
liking the Instagram post,
sending us emails and texts,
telling your friends and generally, just being here for us.

We cannot even begin to express just how grateful we are for you and just how much you fill our hearts every week. You give a piece of yourselves to us every time you show up and it has been our absolute pleasure to put the puzzle together, building this community with you one step at a time.

So this week, we want to make sure we continue to extend that incredible feeling and sense of belonging out into the world. Our classes will focus on making you feel good, powerful, strong and able to be yourself in all your glory so that you can take all of that and spread it far and wide!

A good way to start?
Spend Valentine's Day with us.
We would love to see you.
Feed the Frontlines NYC would love to meet you.
And we'll be working with what we've got to help everyone we can.
Always.

All our love,
Cassandra + Pilates People
