Lexie Palasciano

Movement has been a love of mine for as long as I can remember. I was dancing before I could walk so it wasn’t much of a surprise when I decided to major in dance. What was surprising however was how quickly hours of professional dance training, coupled with extreme hyper-mobility, led to a serious injury.

Here is where Pilates and I met for the first time.

I remember thinking during my first private Pilates session, “Wow, how have I been dancing for so many years without really knowing my body?”

I fell in love with how Pilates so intrinsically connected the mind and body as one. How the practice could yield such an athletic yet somatic experience. Finding Pilates was like finding the anchor my body had been needing for so long.

In 2017, as I graduated with a BFA in Dance from Rutgers University I also tested out as a comprehensively certified Pilates instructor through Polestar Pilates, under the mentorship of Kim Gibilisco. Moving to London after graduation, I continued dancing (thanks to Pilates) as a member of Trinity Laban’s graduate company, Transitions Dance Company, earning an MFA in Dance Performance in 2019.

Pilates has connected me not only to my own body more but with others all around the world. One of the most beautiful lessons I have learned through teaching Pilates is that you don’t have to speak the same language to communicate with someone.

Movement is a universal language and has the power to connect us all to one another. I cannot wait to connect with you in class soon!
